Will Colon, owner/operator of Colorado Jeep Tours, has a long family history in Cañon City, going back four generations. His knowledge of the Royal Gorge region, combined with over 30 years of experience in the local tourism industry, allows Colorado Jeep Tours to give you the care and adventure you want and deserve. The relationships Will has built over a lifetime with private landowners, and the permits he’s obtained from the Bureau of Land Management (BLM), gives us exclusive motorized access to Fremont County’s best terrain.
We Care About Your Safety
Our customized tour vehicles are inspected daily to ensure your safety, and our Jeeps are designed and modified with your comfort in mind. Our friendly, professional tour guides and office staff are handpicked for their knowledge of the area, their fun and unique personalities, and their commitment to providing exceptional customer service. Our guides are background checked, drug tested, their driving records are reviewed, and our vehicle maintenance paperwork is inspected by the Public Utilities Commission (PUC) regularly. We know you are trusting us to care for your family while on tour, and we take that seriously.
YOU’LL Learn While Having Fun
Colorado Jeep Tours offers trips that cover a wide variety of topics, including western history, gold mining, Indian folklore, gem prospecting, early settlers, Cañon City’s Old West prison history, Jurassic-era fossils discovered in nearby quarries, and the types of geological formations found in Cañon City and the Royal Gorge region. We are, in fact, known worldwide for our dinosaur fossil discoveries, several of which can be found in The Smithsonian Institution museums. And, let’s face it, dinosaurs are pretty cool, no matter how old you are.
You’ll See Amazing Things
Our tours offer a fun and interesting way to learn about Colorado and see unique and beautiful places. Some take you along the rim of the Royal Gorge, while others explore red rock monoliths. You might do a 4×4 trail climb to the top of a mountain peak for a spectacular view, or discover the Cripple Creek and Victor gold mining district at almost 10,000 feet. Want to see Indian petroglyphs or dinosaur footprints? You got it. And no matter which tour you choose, they all offer a chance to see wildlife including Bighorn Sheep, deer, skunks, foxes, coyotes, and bears.
our location
Cañon City, our home base, is located only 45 minutes southwest of Colorado Springs and Pueblo, and 2 hours south of Denver, so the Royal Gorge is an easy day-trip from most of Colorado’s front range cities. However, we really recommend that you dedicate at least one full day (if not two) in Cañon City so you can see and do all the fun and exciting things that are available here. Ready to Jeep? Let’s go!
