About the Exhibits
The Royal Gorge Dinosaur Experience provides a dynamic and high-value educational opportunity for kids of all ages and enables families to learn and recreate together on stunning property with views of the famed Royal Gorge Bridge and the beautiful Sangre de Cristo mountain range.
The DinoXP’s state-of-the-art, 16,200 square-foot building houses a world-class collection of interactive displays, and features full-scale dinosaur fossil casts, real dinosaur fossils, entertaining guided tours of the exhibit halls, outdoor skinned animatronic dinosaurs and a multi-story ropes course, to ensure a fine balance between science, learning and good old-fashioned family fun.
The goal of the DinoXP staff is is to ensure that visitors leave knowing a lot more about Colorado’s paleontological history, while also carrying indelible memories of a great time spent learning, discovering and having fun with their friends and families.
Exploring the DinoXP
Step into the state-of-the-art, Dolby-enhanced theater and enjoy a rotating selection of dinosaur-related films. The ten-foot screen adds a fun, family orientated, multi-media element to any DinoXP visit.
Continue learning as you stroll through history’s the wild side with a visit to the outdoor dinosaur park. Here, visitors will find a smooth, compacted-dirt trail that meanders through a high-plain desert forest that’s home to 16 different life-sized, skinned, animatronic dinosaurs, some of which will track your movements, and which are sure to surprise and excite.
The 775-square-foot paleontological laboratory is run by the Garden Park Paleontological Society, a local non-profit organization, which uses this facility to prepare recently unearthed fossils from Colorado’s fabled Garden Park Fossil Area, and from many other fossil projects from around the country.
This indoor interactive center is geared towards kids ages 3-12 and features games, multi-media stations, and age-appropriate content that serve to educate and entertain tomorrow’s scientists.
Ropes Course: $10 Adult, $6 Child Under 12. (Purchase at DinoXP)
To get the road-trip wiggles out DinoXP offers two ropes courses, one for junior guests (age 2-9), and a large one for the more adventurous—a three story course that will challenge guests to experience fun obstacles at a height of over 24 feet.
Of course, safety is paramount and participants of both courses will be tethered in full-body harnesses while still being able to self-guide themselves freely and securely anywhere on the course. For added excitement and lasting memories, guests traversing the T-Rex Terror Ropes Course will be face-to-face with a 80-feet long Diplodocus, and the mighty roaring T-Rex, which stands more than 20-feet tall. There’s nothing like it in the world!
Please note the following restrictions for the T-Rex Terror Ropes Course: No dresses, flip-flops, sandals without ankle straps, high-heels, or any other type of shoe that could easily fall off your feet. Also, you must be at least 4-feet tall and weigh less than 300 lbs.
NOTE: The Ropes Course is an add-on attraction. Please purchase tickets for the Ropes Course at DinoXP upon arrival.
Weather in the Rockies defines the word “unpredictable”, especially during thunderstorm season. For guest safety, DinoXP reserves the right to close the outdoor attractions in inclement weather. If your visit coincides with a weather-related closure you can:
- Take a spin through the museum and wait for the weather to clear.
- Collect a rain-check voucher from the ticketing office.
- After (1) hour of weather-related delays, receive a refund for the outdoor portion of your ticket.

PET POLICY: The DinoXP is small dog-friendly. If your little furry friend is socialized and can be carried in a bag, purse or stroller, they are welcome to come in with you. No large dogs, please. Policy subject to management’s discretion upon entry.
